Kwame Building Group lands Johnson’s Shut-Ins work

Kwame Building Group is providing construction management services to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources on the redevelopment of Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park in Reynolds County. The redeveloped park is scheduled to reopen to the public in 2009.

In 2005, the park was damaged by the breach of AmerenUE’s Taum Sauk hydroelectric plant reservoir, which spilled 1.3 billion gallons of water through the state park. The breach was considered the state’s worst man-made disaster. Ameren agreed to pay the state of Missouri nearly $180 million to rebuild. Redevelopment began last year, following the cleanup and planning/design process.

Kwame is providing technical assistance to the department by monitoring the reconstruction progress and providing reviews of the architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and civil engineering drawings and specifications for construction compliance.St. Louis-based Kwame Building Group is a construction management firm with division offices in Dallas, New Orleans, Phoenix, Pittsburgh and Seattle. The designer and builder is MACTEC, an engineering, environmental and remedial construction firm from Atlanta.
