Cecilia Nadal works at changing the world around her
On May 21 and running through June 6, Gitana Productions will present a new and original play. “Eye On The Sparrow: The World Within St. Louis” by award-winning playwright Lee Patton Chiles, focuses on actual stories of unique St. Louisans.
This play brings attention to those who may seem ordinary, but enrich the lives of others within the St. Louis area in extraordinary ways. Cecilia Nada is the executive director of Gitana Productions. The not-for-profit reaches out to a diverse audience, through the arts and education, including music, dance and drama. “Eye On The Sparrow” shares a special message with those who will attend.
“Some of our heroes are like sparrows, people of simple means and humble backgrounds whose work or deeds make our community better and inspire us to be better,” said Cecilia Nadal.
Cecilia Nadal, may qualify as one of those who inspire. Founding Gitana Production in 1996, her goal is to promote global healing. She works toward accomplishing this goal by bringing different groups together to learn more about one another and increase cultural acceptance. Within a city such as St. Louis, finding cultural differences is not difficult. However, finding someone like Cecilia Nadal, willing to work within those cultures, putting aside differences and seeking positive experiences can be a real pleasure.
Through history, the arts, and education, it seems to this examiner than Cecilia Nadal may qualify as one of the heroes she seeks to highlight. There are women who live and work within a community, leaving behind a path for other women to follow. These women offer of themselves from the heart, using their talents to not only earn a living for themselves and their families, but to have an impact on other families as well. A woman such as this has no need to tell the world what she has accomplished. The world only needs to listen, as those who have been touched by her efforts, speak for her. Cecilia Nadal seems to be creating such a path.
