KWAME Foundation Golf Tournament to fund scholarships for minority students
The KWAME Foundation will host its Seventh Annual Golf Tournament on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at the Norman K. Probstein golf course at Forest Park in St. Louis. The KWAME Foundation endows approximately $150,000 a year in scholarships and grants at universities that improve educational opportunities for minorities.
“Our goal is to ensure a strong minority presence in the future workforce by helping minority students achieve their higher educational goals,” said Tony Thompson, president and CEO of KWAME.
Registration and lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. with the shotgun start of the four-person scramble at 1:00 p.m. The cocktail reception and happy hour will begin at 5:00 p.m. and the awards ceremony and auction will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Last year, the Kwame Foundation Golf Tournament netted more than $65,000 for scholarship endowments at the following colleges and universities:
* Maryville University
* University of Kansas
* Jackson State University
* University of Missouri – Columbia’s School of Law
* University of Missouri – St. Louis
* Saint Louis University’s College of Arts and Sciences
* Barnes-Jewish Hospital School of Nursing
* Fontbonne University
* Interdenominational Theological Center
* Harris-Stowe State University
* Ranken Technical College
