Kwame PM on O’Fallon Park Rec Complex
The City of St. Louis has contracted Kwame Building Group (KWAME) as project manager on the $23 million O'Fallon Park Recreation Complex. KWAME is assisting the St. Louis Board of Public Service in managing all aspects of the project. Construction is underway and expected to be completed by the end of 2011.
The O'Fallon Park Recreation Complex is just the second such facility built in the City of St. Louis since the 1970s, and the first in north St. Louis. The recreation complex is located on 13 acres of land near I-70 and West Florissant Avenue.
The two-story, 79,000-square-foot recreation complex will feature a full indoor aquatic center with a splash pool, lazy river, vortex pool, children's pools and a rock climbing wall above the water; an outdoor lap pool; and a sauna, steam room and spa. Other amenities include a double gymnasium with lockers, a fitness center, an indoor running track, and a community center with a senior center, teen lounge and multipurpose community rooms.
The striking glass entrance to the recreation complex will offer a view of the pool areas and common space, and will open to an expansive circular light well in the lobby. A dining room will serve the pool areas and the multipurpose rooms. The complex will incorporate numerous environmentally friendly and sustainable features, and is designed to achieve LEED Silver certification. S. M. Wilson is the general contractor and KAI is the project architect.
