Biggest Loser Ali Vincent's advice to change your life

Ali Vincent and her mom Bette Sue are two of the most memorable contestants to ever step on the Biggest Loser scale.

KSDK -- Ali Vincent and her mom Bette Sue are two of the most memorable contestants to ever step on the Biggest Loser scale.

"It was Ali's idea I'm sitting eating my potato chips in bed one night and I see this thing that says Biggest Loser open casting so I text her," explains Bette Sue.

Bette Sue is of course known for her quick wit and her daughter, Ali for becoming the first woman to win the reality show competition.

"The Biggest Loser was a journey of me falling in love with me," says Ali.

These days, she's not reporting to the ranch, but rather planning several stops at Famous Footwear stores around the country.

"It is the mind, body and sole tour and I couldn't be more excited," Ali adds.

It's a chance for her to motivate and inspire people.

"Yes, The Biggest Loser showcases the physical change and that's really why it's been my mission to get out there and speak to as many as possible because I believe, and what I've come to realize, is my body is a direct example of how I feel. It was true for me at 234 pounds and it's true for me today, but it's really hard to admit at 234 pounds that I was unhappy," Ali goes on to say.

You can see by her constant smile she's very happy these days. She's written a book and, on this particular day, teamed up with me to grab as many shoes as we can for St. Louis Crisis Nursery.

Of course what we all want to know is her secret for keeping the weight off.

"I've lost and gained the same 100 pounds a million times in my life, you know what I mean? They were 30 at a time, but that's what I did I wasn't asking for the right support. Often when I would put it out there, can you support me, it felt like police," Ali explains.

So during her time on the ranch, she really learned what kind of support to ask for. She also learned the importance of letting go.

"I would say 10 percent of the equation is the how to and 90 percent of the equation is falling in love with yourself. Acknowledging the things that are good about you, letting go of the things you're not so proud of. There's enough people out there that are going to try to tear you down, you need to celebrate yourself," Ali adds.

That's not exactly easy when Jillian Michaels is yelling at you.

"We probably work with Bob (Harper) or Jillian being trained individually about 45 minutes to an hour, and then the rest of the time, it's doing cardio, but they tell us exactly what to do," Ali remembers.

So what Ali is telling you is to simply start moving and if it's something you enjoy you'll be more likely to continue doing it throughout your life.

She also says if you do nothing else simply start writing down everything you put into your mouth.
