 Gitana Productions, Inc. will present a new original play “Eye On The Sparrow: The World Within St. Louis” by award-winning playwright Lee Patton Chiles at St. Louis University Theatre, 3733 West Pine Mall. Performances are from May 21 thru June 6, 2010, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.
Based on the actual stories of unique and diverse St. Louisans, the play brings attention to the “sparrows” among us, the many extraordinary yet ordinary people who enrich our lives in the St. Louis region.
“Some of our heroes are like sparrows, people of simple means and humble backgrounds whose work or deeds make our community better and inspire us to be better,” said Cecilia Nadal, executive director of Gitana Productions, a not-for-profit arts and education group that nurtures global healing in the St. Louis community through music, dance and drama. “’Eye On The Sparrow’ captures their stories and illuminates the beauty within.”
Gitana Productions has received six Kevin Kline Award nominations for their first two original plays, “Complacency of Silence: Darfur” in 2008 and “My Heart is Always Shaking” in 2009.
