n has completed construction on the $1.4 million St. Louis Surgical Center Phase II at 760 Office Parkway in Creve Coeur. The 7,000-square-foot project was completed ahead of schedule in December, 2006.
John Hirsch, MD, chairman and CEO of the facility, has submitted an application for certification with the State of Missouri to potentially become the first surgical hospital in Missouri. The approval process could take up to four months or more, Dr. Hirsch said.
The construction project includes the interior build-out of an existing shell space that will include nine private patient rooms and two operating room suites with high-end finishes. Walton also remodeled a portion of the existing building to expand the surgical center. Other work included selective demolition, modification to existing paving, metal fabrications, interior architectural woodwork and doors, interior finishes, and mechanical, plumbing, fire protection and electrical work.
“We were extremely pleased with the work Walton Construction had done on the first phase of construction, building out the 21,000-square-foot shell," Dr. Hirsch said. "We asked them to complete the rest of project, developing the remaining 7,000 square feet into nine private rooms and bathrooms, and two operating rooms. We are completely on target with this project and it has been a pleasure working with Walton.”
The project was designed by The Lawrence Group Architects, Inc. of St. Louis.
