Kwame to Provide Construction Management for New St. Louis Community College Campus
October 25, 2005
ST. LOUIS – Kwame Building Group (KWAME) has been selected to serve as construction manager and owner representative for the new St. Louis Community College campus in West County. The $18 million construction project will be complete in March, 2007. KWAME also provided pre-construction services prior to the award of the construction contract.
“KWAME stepped into the West Campus project at a critical juncture to provide oversight of a complex task list,” said Carla S. Chance, vice chancellor for finance and business services, St. Louis Community College. “Since joining the team, KWAME has identified and resolved numerous design and pre-construction issues.”
The Wildwood campus is at the corner of Highway 109 and Old Manchester Road. The new facility will replace the existing West County Education Center on Kehrs Road in Ballwin, and will contain a bookstore, offices and classrooms. The 75,000-square-foot educational facility will feature a greenroof, cisterns for irrigation, daylight techniques for harvesting light, and low temperature air and paddle fans in classrooms to save energy. The college will pursue LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification on the building.
