Linco Expands in the Missouri Research Park
September 30, 2004
ST. LOUIS, MO – Linco Diagnostic Services, Inc. has completed a new 52,000-square-foot bioanalytical and administrative facility on six acres within the Missouri Research Park, a technology park anchoring the Highway 40/61 high-tech corridor in St. Charles County. Linco Diagnostics conducts laboratory analysis of testing kits related to such high growth research areas as obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, osteoporosis and arthritis.
Linco Diagnostic is sister company to fellow Missouri Research Park tenant Linco Rearch, Inc., which researches and develops test kits in these same research areas. Both companies serve pharmaceutical, biotechnology and academic clients throughout the United States and internationally.
A total of 35 employees now work in the new Linco Diagnostic headquarters, which opened in August. Linco Diagnostic’s marketing, customer service and administration team will remain at the Linco Research facility. Prior to building their new headquarters, Linco Diagnostic occupied 8,000-square-feet within one of Linco Research’s two Missouri Research Park buildings.
The new Linco Diagnostic building was constructed by ARCO Construction Company, Inc., general contractor, with ACI Boland as the architect. Construction began in the winter of 2003. The building is located in close proximity to Linco Research’s other two buildings, forming a triangle of Linco facilities totalling more than 80,000-square-feet of space.
The new Linco Diagnostic facility features five state-of-the-art laboratories, the two largest of which are 3,500 square feet and 1,500 square feet. The building also provides enhanced sample management capabilities and is equipped with high-tech security system that allows workers to easily move about the secure laboratories.
The exterior features large concrete tilt panels and glass curtain walls with an impressive curved glass architectural focal point. An atrium lobby joining the two wings of the facility is the highlight of the interior. Much of the look of the outside of the building was carried over to the two-story lobby to create a high-tech feel.
Amenities include an exercise facility for employees, a kitchen, a large lunch room which seats up to 100 and doubles as a spacious meeting room, and parking for 75 vehicles.
Linco Diagnostic built approximately 12,000 square feet of undeveloped space within their new headquarters for future expansion. The company also has access to adjacent land, which could eventually support an additional 40,000-square-foot facility.
Linco Diagnostic has grown rapidly since it was spun off from Linco Research in 2002. Linco Research was founded in 1978 and has established itself as a market leader in developing and manufacturing immunoassay kits for researchers involved in diabetes and obesity study. Both companies are experiencing rapid growth as they move into the areas of cardiovascular and inflammatory diseases.
Linco Research was one of the Missouri Research Park’s initial tenants. The company first moved to the park in 1994 and initially occupied just half of an 8,500-square-foot building. The company then built and moved to a 20,000-square-foot facility across the street. When they filled that building to capacity, Linco Research expanded back into their original headquarters as well.
The Missouri Research Park is the first business park in the St. Louis region to market exclusively to technology-intensive and research-based companies, and. The 200-acre research and development park, with more than 1.2 million square feet under roof, has been a catalyst for development along the Highway 40/61 high-tech corridor in St. Charles County. Today, 14 companies and three government facilities within the Park employ approximately 1,800 people. The Missouri Research Park is a project of the University of Missouri Office of Economic Development and Research Parks, whose mission is to support Missouri’s economic growth by developing and sustaining research and technology alliances among the University, government agencies and private companies.
