July 16, 2010
ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI – The Lutheran Foundation of St. Louis has awarded a $15,000 grant to the Saint Louis Crisis Nursery to improve resiliency skills and decrease stressors for children at risk for child abuse or neglect. The grant, to be distributed over 12 months, will fund medical, developmental and social-emotional screenings and therapeutic interventions for 600 children and intensive home-based services for 60 children.
The grant is funded through the Lutheran Foundation’s Children’s Mental Health funding focus area. The Lutheran Foundation provides financial support to area congregations and organizations that, in turn, improve the care of people in the St. Louis metropolitan region.
The Crisis Nursery, committed to the prevention of child abuse and neglect, is an independent, not-for-profit agency that provides a short-term, safe haven for children, birth through age 12, whose families are faced with an emergency or crisis.
