Celebrities raise $75,000 in “tips” for Crisis Nursery
August 26, 2010
ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI – More than 75 local celebrities worked the tables and entertained guests at the Saint Louis Crisis Nursery’s 20th annual Celebrity Waitresses’ & Waiters’ Night on August 19, raising $75,000 in tips for the organization. The event supports Crisis Nursery’s 24-hour safe-haven nurseries as well as programs to prevent child abuse and neglect throughout the St. Louis and St. Charles region.
More than 800 guests filled Canyon Café and Cardwell’s on the Plaza, and the event spilled over into the Plaza Frontenac Center Court where Fleming’s Steak House raised funds by selling wine, a signature martini and desserts.
Celebrities from radio, TV and print media rubbed elbows with politicians and business leaders from all over the region. St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley was Honorary Chair of the event. The Honorary Corporate Co-Chairs were Jim Theiss, president of Centric Group; Patricia Mercurio, president of Bank of America; and Debra Hollingsworth, vice president external affairs of AT&T-Missouri.
The Celebrity Server of the Year was David Kowach of Wells Fargo Advisors, who raised $8,250. Don Gerber of Gerber Chapel and Jim Theiss of Centric raised the second and third largest amounts.
Canyon Café owner Doug Czufin flew in from Colorado for the second year to co-host the party. Cardwell’s on the Plaza Chef Bill Cardwell and manager Toni Collins joined forces with Canyon Café’s Chef Sandra Banchs and manager Laura Moulder and Dan O’Leary to support the event.
