The Lawrence Group is a St. Louis-based architecture, interior design and town-planning firm with a national clientele and network offices in Denver, New York, Austin and the Carolinas.
Founders Steve Smith, David Ohlemeyer, Paul Doerner and interior design principal Linda Loewenstein brought together a common culture and set of values that has remained constant throughout the life of the company.
Today, the Lawrence Group is one of the largest architecture and interior design firms in St. Louis. Named one of the “Top 100 Giants” by Interior Design magazine for the last two years, the Lawrence Group and their interior design firm, Colors, offer architecture, planning and design services to health care, commercial and housing clients nationwide. The 150-employee firm is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the U.S. Green Building Council.
Headquartered in St. Louis’ historic downtown business district, the Lawrence Group is a key player in the revitalization of downtown St. Louis, providing design services for over 1.3 million square feet of property. The Lawrence Group is designing the adaptive reuse of such historic landmarks as the Security Building, the Marquette Building, the Pet Milk Building, Southside National Bank and the Syndicate Trust Building.
The Lawrence Group also has taken a leadership role in expanding retail to Washington Avenue by establishing Niche, one of the first home furnishing stores in that area. Niche was named one of the “2005 Businesses of the Year” by the City of St. Louis.
